    Here comes the snow!!

  • October 29, 2010 12:55 PM | Anonymous

The first winter snow fell this week on the mountain, with close to a foot of snow in Government Camp and over 3 feet of snow at Timberline!  The ski season will soon be here and before we know it the kids will be racing!

In preparation for the racing events our team will host this winter, we are having an informational meeting for all those interested in learning more about racing.  Hosting a quality ski race requires many volunteers doing many different jobs.  There are plenty of tasks for parents, both on and off the hill.  Please join us this coming Wednesday.

    MHSEF Race Committee Meeting

    Wednesday, November 3rd at 6:30pm

    Elmer's Restaurant

16087 SE 82nd Drive, Clackamas, OR

(just East of I-205 off Hwy 224)

    Race Officials

Those of you who currently hold an officials license will be able to fulfill your Officials Update requirement at our Committee Meeting on Wednesday.  For those of you who may be interested in becoming a licensed official this meeting will cover the information needed prior to attending the PNSA Officials Clinic.

The PNSA Officials Clinic in Portland is scheduled for Sunday, November 14th at the Multnomah Athletic Club.  Please go to the PNSA website for detailed information and registration - www.pnsa.org. Registration and Information All clinics begin at 8:15 AM - registration opens at 7:30 AM

Every event we host requires licensed officials handling many different duties, so we are always looking for more parents interested in this area of racing.  However, even if you are not interested in becoming a licensed official, the Officials Clinic is still a great opportunity to learn more about the sport and meet other parents of Mt. Hood racers.  The more you know, the more you will enjoy your child's experience in ski racing.

If you have any questions about the Race Committee Meeting or the PNSA Officials Clinic please send an email to Malcolm Ash - mash@prunw.com, or Bill Gunesch - bgunesch@centurytel.net.

Hope to see you on Wednesday!

    Hi MHSEF Families,

Here is a quick update and some reminders.

    Fall Meeting
Next Sunday, Oct 24th, is our Fall Meeting, Ski Swap and Potluck.  Be sure to save the date. Check all your equipment and gear from last season.  If any items are now too small, the Ski Swap is a good time to pass them on to younger kids on the team.  Also, Bob Olson from the Alpine Race Center will be at our meeting with Atomic, Head and other equipment.  Please see the attached flyer for specific times and location, and potluck info.  FallPotluck10.pdf

    Fusion Pass
Skibowl will open the ticket office on the 24th to process Fusion Passes.  To speed up the process please purchase your pass at www.mthoodfusionpass.com before the 24th.  See the potluck flyer for more details.

Ski Team release and Ski Area releases
All members of our teams need to have a MHSEF release on file, as well as releases from both Skibowl and Timberline.  If you have not yet completed new releases for the coming season, please download from the links below and bring the completed forms to the potluck.

    TimberlineWinterRelease.pdf
    Release 2011.pdf

    MHSEF Website Registration
Everyone should be registered on our team website.  Most team communication during the winter will be generated from the website information you provide.  Please make sure your family's data is correct, including best email address, contact information, your child's program and your child's year of birth.  This last item is especially important.

If you are new to the team please follow the registration process found on the lower left side of the team website.  After registering for the first time you will receive a password via the email address you provide, allowing you to log on to your account.  At that time you can change your password and update your family information.  Go to www.mthoodacademy.com.

That's all for now!!  See you on the mountain!!

We are very excited about the coming weekend and the Buddy Werner Championships.  Families from all over the Northwest will be coming to Government Camp and Mt. Hood Skibowl as guests of MHSEF and CSRT.  I am very proud of our two teams and all the effort that has gone into preparing for this very special event.  It is going to be a wonderful and exciting weekend.

Please review these two volunteer lists BWC Volunteer Assignments - On Hill and BWC Volunteer Assignments - Off Hill.  Thanks so much to all of you!  Most of you have volunteered for multiple jobs and I am very grateful for your enthusiastic participation.  Please look over the lists, if you have any questions please get in touch with me.

There are still a few jobs that need filling. J   (And no, they are not all gatekeeping jobs.)  If you have not already volunteered, please do so!  This will be a great weekend and the proceeds from it benefit our entire team.  Come be a part of this special event!

    Thank You,

    Karen Dean
