Academics
Mt Hood Academy is a unique school located in Government Camp, Oregon. The Academy's mission: to help students gain the ability and the desire to establish and achieve personally-appropriate goals in education, athletics, for future careers, and for living in a diverse society.
Mt. Hood Ski Education Foundation founded the Mt. Hood Academy high school in 1985. Since then the Academy has provided winter schooling for 15-20 students per year. The goal of Mt. Hood Academy is to provide an environment which fosters learning and preparation for student-athletes aspiring toward personal excellence in both academic and physical pursuits, and to encourage the extension of individual goals whenever appropriate.
The school maintains flexibility in its schedules, and its considerations of individual cases, so as to encourage an optimal college preparatory education in the face of any and all demands placed on the student by athletic competition, training and travel. In its contribution to this process, Mt. Hood Academy strives to develop well-rounded, self-comfortable individuals with the knowledge, experience and fortitude to pursue their goals throughout challenges offered by education, competition, employment and daily living. In addition to the academic programs offered, Mt. Hood Academy offers ski racing and training programs for young athletes 13 years of age and older. For more information on Mt.
